PEARLS

 Pearl Information:

The pearl is a traditional symbol of love, happiness and good fortune.

Freshwater pearls can take a year to two years to form a single pearl.

Pearls are naturally grown and no two are alike.

Value

Luster is defined by the beautiful reflections of light from the surface of the pearl. Generally, the size, roundness, and more lustrous a pearl the more valuable it is.

Jewelry which contains closely matched pearls, is more expensive because of the time it takes to sort and match the pearls.

Pearl Care

Pearls are organic gems that require special care.

The general rule is that: PEARLS SHOULD BE THE LAST THING YOU PUT ON and SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF FIRST when you get home.

Never spray perfume, cosmetics or hair spray when you wear pearl jewelry.

A pearl's soft surface can be easily scratched

Do not wear pearls when applying cosmetics and perfumes.

Do not wear in water, pool, etc.

Pearls need to “breathe” but avoid extreme heat and sunlight.

For cleaning, wipe your pearls GENTLY with a soft damp cloth, or have a jeweler clean it professionally.
